It is the ultimate girl thing. When a woman wants a break from the stress of life there are few things she can do that will be as therapeutic as pampering herself at a spa. You can have so many different treatments done there in the peaceful, soothing and serene environment that will leave you refreshed and invigorated in both mind and body.

Going to a spa and facial is something every girl should do once in awhile. Either by herself or for a girl’s day out, it is a great way to get a jumpstart on life again. Besides the chance to relax and be pampered you come away feeling more beautiful than before, and that’s something that does every woman good.

One of the most important parts of a spa and facial is, of course, the facial itself. At home you probably have a facial cleansing and care routine. You may cleanse, tone and moisturize. Maybe you do a mask once a week and exfoliate regularly. These are all great for your skin, but a facial takes this type of care to another level.

There are many different types of facial you can choose from. Some of these are more of a medical procedure such as the various types of hair removal or peels, but a typical facial will take you through a process that will have you coming away with healthy, glowing skin.

After you have chosen what type of facial you want you will be lead to the facial bed. This is a relaxing and comfortable chair that you lie in while your facial is being performed. There are many different types of facial beds but each is designed to give you maximum comfort while allowing the esthetician to easily work on your face.

Facials feature different skin treatments usually beginning with a warm towel treatment which helps to open the pores and soften the skin. Cleansing and then different masks might be used. These are most commonly inspired by nature, such as fruit masks, honey, oatmeal and other “ingredients” are sometimes used, and mud and clay masks are also typical.

While every treatment is meant to smooth and soften the skin and give it a healthier more youthful appearance, there are different types and ingredients used for different skin types. Your esthetician will evaluate your skin and determine what will be best for you skin types.

While you can perform most aspects of a facial at home, you cannot have the pampering effect in quite the same way as when you are sitting in a facial bed at a spa and facial and a professional is massaging special essential oils and other preparations into your face and covering your eyes with cucumbers. It’s something a girl deserves to experience now and again.
