Let Nature Work Her Magic: Cucumber Facial

When you want to treat your skin and feel pampered there is something about natural products that do the job better than anything you can buy at the store. Mother Nature simply has a way of creating things that can revive and invigorate us and help our skin to feel healthy and glowing.

There are many different natural ingredients that we can use to clean, exfoliate, nourish and moisturize our skin. Just take a look at any label on any skin care product and you will almost certainly see at least one natural ingredient advertised in big letters on the front, as opposed to all the chemicals that are printed in fine print on the back, before the natural ingredient is listed.

The fact that marketers appeal to our sense of natural goodness to sell their products suggests that using those natural products really can be beneficial to our skin. If this is the case, then why do we settle for the tiny amounts that are included in the products we pay big money for?

This is especially silly to think about when we realize that we have those ingredients right in our own kitchen! Products advertising that they contain olive oil, oatmeal, green tea and cucumber extracts are actually a little ridiculous when you think about it. You can put those things directly on your face for a fraction of the cost of the chemical filled product!

Cucumber is one of the ingredients that are often included in facial cleaners, toners and masks. We all can easily conjure up images in our mind of a woman in a fluffy white robe with a mask on her face and cucumbers covering her eyes. It is the picture of relaxation and pampering. Cucumber facial products take advantage of this image.

Cucumber is a great ingredient for use in facial products because it is very refreshing and good for reducing puffy eyes and dark circles. It is a natural astringent so it is good for oily skin as it tightens the pores and smoothes the skin. It is also soothing and refreshing.

Besides just putting cucumber slices over your eyes there are other ways you can make your own cucumber facial cleaners. You can find recipes online that require only a few simple ingredients like cucumber, witch hazel and lemon or honey. These can be very beneficial when used once a week or so on your face and can save you money over expensive products.

Making your own cucumber facial mask is fun and easy and a great way to allow nature to do her work. It is inexpensive and a very green type of skin care. Give it a try today. You may never purchase another facial mask!
